  • An Australasian Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae)  watching for fish in the mangroves in Dampier Creek, Broome.  Darters weigh around 2.6 kg with a wing span of 85-90 cm.  More commonly found in freshwater environments, they are also found in sheltered saltwater systems with overhanging vegetation and low branches.
