Adele Island was name in 1801 by Nicolas Baudin. The farthest island off the Kimberley coast, Adele is classified as a Nature Reserve by DEC in recognition of its status as a major seasbird and turtle breeding area.

Adele is home to colonies of Masked, Brown and Red Footed Boobies, Lesser Frigate Birds, Pelicans and Terns.
